Katy Ruffels

Meet Katy
I’m thrilled to have joined the UMEUS team as a counsellor in training.
If you choose to work with me, I’ll offer you my warmth, care and attention. I’ll listen as you explore whatever has brought you to counselling.
You might be struggling to cope with a specific challenge. Perhaps you’re contemplating change, or simply have a sense that things aren’t quite right. Whatever the case, we can explore how your problems have arisen to help you decide how you’d like to move forward.
My training in person-centred counselling means that I will accompany you - rather than directing you - in your explorations. And I’ll do my very best to understand how you experience the world.
My background
It was as a volunteer with Samaritans that I first experienced the simple power of listening without judgement. More recently I’ve joined Cruse Bereavement Care, giving me a deep understanding of grief and loss in its many forms.
Having completed the first two years of my counselling training, I’m now studying at level 4, which leads to professional qualification.
I am a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by its code of ethics.
I am lucky enough to attend regular supervision with experienced therapist Su Orosa, and am supported by UMEUS founder and lead therapist Sam McCarthy.
Fair rate counselling at UMEUS
Due to my status as a counsellor in training, sessions with me are offered at the reduced rate of £23.
